Support for Parents

holding-hands

Our friendly, informal support group meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month, 7pm-9pm at Acklam Green Centre, Stainsby Road, Acklam, Middlesbrough, TS5 4JS.  Anyone affected by the death of a baby is welcome to come along.

There is never any pressure to talk at the meetings and some people find comfort in just coming and listening to others. But if you want to talk, you’ll find people who understand your grief, and who want to listen to anything you want to say about your baby.

We know it can be daunting to come to something like the group for the first time, so if you haven’t been before you are welcome to arrive 15 minutes early to meet our peer supporters (all of whom are bereaved parents themselves).

You are also very welcome to get in touch with us via email at support@stillparentsteesside.org.uk or Facebook messenger, with any questions you may have or just to get support in this way.

What Happens at a Support Meeting?

We meet at 7pm and get a drink and open the conversation generally with asking if anyone has had any significant dates since they last came or the last meeting they want to discuss or any coming up and how they are feeling.

We have a break at 8pm for refreshments (although people can come and go whenever).

Sometimes in the second half of the meeting, we do craft sessions. We have found people can open up more when they are kept busy.
